I guess that sums up the entirety of my issue here. Thanks for the response everyone! I found this quote particularly interesting - "The only problem of the sigma lens is the existence of the Canon." It is really worth the price.Ĭoncerning AF, for me there is no problem, although it is not the fastest lens. Up to now, I have never regretted having bought this lens.

I purchased it about six months ago when there was a special price reduction (20% off). It also took a long time for me to decide for it, mainly because of the costs.

I don't have the Sigma and I don't do videos, so my opinion is only basing on stills I am shooting with the 32mm. Both lenses are a steal and real value for money. Whatever you do, you can't go wrong with either lens. You've entered this forum, so now you have to spend 200 dollars more Sorry, just kidding, but it's a hard question to answer for somebody else if something is worth it. The only problem of the sigma lens is the existence of the Canon. The optical performance of the Canon is stellar. The optical performance of the sigma is very very good. Some here are reporting for stills the 32mm f/1.4 is focusing pretty fast on the M6mkII. video! I didn't find any comparison for AF speed for stills yet. There where video's showing the sigma was focusing faster, however, that was. The AF performance is a result of both the lens and the camera. Is it worth it to wait out a price drop for the Canon or should I get the Sigma while the price is so low? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I've heard the AF on the Sigma outperforms the Canon in some cases so that's another positive to the price being a lot lower. My main uses would be for portraits and video, but generally speaking I'm a casual photographer. I know the Canon produces a very good picture but I've also heard a lot of good things about the Sigma as well. With the tax, it's almost $200 cheaper for me to get the Sigma over the Canon.
Sigma 30mm 1.4 canon full#
This past weekend I picked up a refurbished Sigma 16mm EF-M and I love it! The pictures and videos from this thing are quite stunning, which got me interested in getting a full portrait lens again.Ĭurrently, the Sigma 30mm is on sale for $289 plus some free accessories. At over $500 with tax here in NY, the alternative 30mm Sigma lens has been catching my attention for awhile now with it's lower $339 price point. I've been wanting to purchase the Canon 32mm f/1.4 for some time now but the prices have been pretty outrageous.
